Revival

Over the last week or so, incredible revival has been happening at Asbury University where students joined on February 9 for a regular scheduled chapel service. At the time of my writing, it hasn't ended. Students remained in the chapel worshipping, praying, reading scripture, and more. The leader of the chapel service is an Alliance worker and there have been many Alliance people there at the revival. Students are hungry for the presence of God and have been devoted to time with Him. It is a beautiful example of how life for us will look in eternity.

Many pursue revival as though it will provide the space for them to finally experience God's presence or to take them into a higher experience of Christianity. But is that the point? Revival is a beautiful celebratory worship devoted to God with no other distractions. However, what we ought to learn from revival is an unwavering devotion and pursuit of God. This is not limited to ecstatic experiences in specific places, but something we should pursue in our everyday lives.

What does revival stir in you? Does it make you want to go to Asbury? Does it make you jealous of the experience of others? Does it make you hungry for the pursuit of God? Do you pursue revival in your workplace, home, church, or anywhere else? How can you foster a culture of revival wherever you are? How can you set apart time to devote to God and praying for revival here and across the world?
