Spiritual growth

You may have noticed on our calendars on the bottom left hand side that it says, "Be with Jesus, Be transformed by Jesus, Become like Jesus, and Join Jesus in His Kingdom Work." This is not merely a statement. I have it on there because that is the fourfold movement of the individual Spiritual life that I want to be our focus at LCF. It is not a mere vision for 2023, but a lived out identity for our church family. It is not something that it is a progression of growth, but rather a commitment to living out these movements while allowing Jesus to do the work in us. And it is not like you move from one to another leaving the previous one behind, they work in harmony in our pursuit of being followers of Jesus who take up our crosses in faithful (or faith-filled) discipleship and witness.

We will eventually have a sermon series this year to look at these four movements in greater depth; however, over the next few weeks, I will be looking at each one of these here in the Pastor's Corner. Today, is an introduction where I want you to consider what each of these might mean to you.

Be with Jesus
Be transformed by Jesus
Become like Jesus
Join Jesus in His Kingdom work

How do these four movements connect together? Do you find it easy or hard to be with Jesus? Is the transformation by Jesus something that is already done? Is it currently happening? What is our role in that transformation? Do you become like Jesus simply by imitating his life? Is this achieved merely through effort? What does it mean to join Jesus in His Kingdom work? Does that mean you are supposed to partner with Him to minister or evangelize? Does that mean you have a role and responsibility in God's Kingdom? How do you join Him? Are you ready to join Him? If you were sent out like Jesus' followers in Mark 6 or Luke 10, would you be prepared to minister to people, to love them, to tell them about Jesus?

Don't worry, we will discuss these things in the coming weeks and months.
